• Always disconnect the main electrical supply when installing, repairing, maintaining or
handling the equipment. Consult a qualified electrician if in any doubt about wiring this
product to the main power supply.
5) Maintenance & Cleaning
5.1 Routine Maintenance
Carry out routine maintenance when the filter outlet flow is visibly reduced.
1. Switch off and disconnect the unit from the electrical supply before carrying out maintenance.
2. Turn off the pond pump.
3. Disconnect the filter inlet hose by unscrewing the hose clamp.
4. Disconnect the filter outlet hose by unscrewing the hose clamp. See outlet arrow on chamber
cover lid.
5. Release and remove the canister clamp (3).
6. Carefully remove the canister cover (2) taking care not to damage the quartz sleeve.
A key slot is provided between the canister and the canister cover to aid removal.
7. Ensure that the canister cover O-ring seal (4) remains in place.
8. Remove outlet fitting cone (8) and outlet tube (6) from the filter foams.
9. Remove foams and wash in a bucket of pond water.
10. Replace foams in correct order inserting them on the outlet tube (6) and outlet cone (8).
11. Replace canister cover lid (2), ensuring that the O-ring seal (4) is retained in place.
12. Clip shut the canister cover clamp (3).
13. Reconnect pump inlet hose by tightening the hose clamps, ensuring that inlet arrow is correct.
14. Reconnect filter outlet hose by tightening the locking nut on the hosetail.
15. Switch on pond pump and pressure filter at the electrical supply.
16. Check that all seals and hoses are water tight to ensure that pond water level is maintained.
After prolonged use the filter foams may become damaged. This can be identified on the
inability of the foams to return to shape after cleaning. If the filter foams are damaged they
should be replaced.
5.2 Annual Maintenance
Check for wear
• Once a year you should service your filter.
• Dismantle the filter and examine all the parts for wear or damage, replacing any parts
that show obvious signs of wear and/or damage.
• Special attention should be paid to all O-ring seals.
